Lake Arrowhead jest osadą położoną na wysokości 5191 stóp (1577 metrów) nad poziomem morza. Jest to kurort, w górach San Bernardino, otoczony lasami, malowniczo położony nad jeziorem o tej samej nazwie. Lake Arrowhead posiada wyjątkowy klimat (jak na południową Kalifornię), albowiem występują tutaj wszystkie cztery pory roku, a klimat jest łagodny. Podobno aż 310 dni w ciągu roku jest tutaj słonecznych. Odwiedziliśmy tę osadę (chociaż bardziej pasuje mi określenie Lake Arrowhead jako miasteczko) wielokrotnie o różnych porach roku. Zawsze mieliśmy słońce, nawet w zime. Wyczytaliśmy, że rocznie miasteczko odwiedza prawie 4 miliony turystów. Coś ich tutaj sprowadza (przyciąga). Dla nas, powodem kolejnej wizyty jest to, że zawsze panuje tu spokόj i atmosfera relaksu. Nie widziałem tu nikogo spieszącego się gdziekolwiek. Wszyscy napotkani turyści spacerują po niezbyt długim bulwarze wzdłuż jeziora, siedzą na ławeczkach z twarzami odwróconymi w stronę słońca, albo też w jednej z wielu tutejszych kawiarni czy restauracji. Atrakcją letnią jest prawie godzinny spacer po jeziorze niewielkim statkiem z przewodnikiem, który oprócz historii, opowiada o ludziach, którzy mieszkają (czy też kiedyś mieszkali) wokół jeziora. Bardzo dużo miejscowych domów ma bezpośredni dostęp do jeziora. Najczęściej jest tam również nieduży pomost i oczywiście łódka. Łapanie ryb z brzegu jest praktycznie skazane na niepowodzenie, gdyż dostęp do jeziora jest w wielu miejscach po prostu nie możliwy (teren prywatny – wstęp wzbroniony). Lake Arrowhead jest całkowicie prywatnym jeziorem. Należy do mieszkańców wspólnoty. Nikt z poza tej wspólnoty nie może tu trzymać swojej łodzi, pływać, czy też uprawiać sporty wodne. Jest za to szkoła dla początkujących narciarzy wodnych. To chyba jedyny sposób dla turysty, aby „zamoczyć” się w jeziorze. Objechaliśmy jezioro dookoła i widzieliśmy, że w wielu miejscach domy zasłaniają całkowicie taflę jeziora. Tak już jest w Lake Arrowhead i turysta musi się z tym pogodzić. Sprzedawana w wielu skepach woda „Lake Aarrowhead” nie jest wcale z jeziora, lecz „pobierana” z okolicznych źródeł. Nam nie smakuje, co nie znaczy, że jest zła. Wiemy, że jest tu dość sporo hoteli i kwater prywatnych (z własnym dostępem do jeziora). Dla nas kilka godzin spędzonych w Lake Arrowhead połączonych z lunchem czy obiadem, jest wystarczającym powodem, aby przyjechać tutaj ponownie. Najczęściej „wpadamy” do Lake Arrowhead będąc w pobliskim Big Bear. I tak już od lat. Póki co nie zamierzamy tego zmieniać.
